Project:
Facebook Cannes
More than 15 thousand people head to the French Riviera each year for the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. For the five-day festival, Facebook gave the task to build an experience that would unite their diverse platform offerings.
Working closely with both the Creative Director and Associate Director, both of whom are based in Austin and Los Angeles respectively, we were able to keep a close point of collaboration by creating a set visual system early on. My role as the Art Director for this program was to help develop the visual system for the program. While doing so, we all needed to keep in mind that this was a system that needed to work across multiple platforms. The result was a color-coding system, based on the different gradients that Facebook has assigned specifically to each of their differing family of products. I was also in charge of being a close point of contact with the Production Designers; all of whom are based in London, and to give ample directions as to how the graphics are meant to be utilized, this involved creating specific mockups of installations, printed materials or any other collaterals; as well as creating a sample production file to use as a source of reference.
